Water Can Heal? Debunking Reductionist Objections

Water, healing?

There is skepticism on this topic.

Various methods have been recorded to describe water as

  • invigorating,
  • healing
  • or activating.

This topic is as mysterious as water itself. I know it first hand.

Back when I did my design theoretical studies on the topic of water filtration, I conducted a survey, asking people if they believe that water can heal.

The materialist, reductionist, (& I want to say scientific, but real science is not reductionist) view is openly confrontational about this.

Words like “healing water” has been heard about specifically in the WuWu Spiritual community.

There is a lot of companies selling “water structure” devices (grander water e.g.). They sell overpriced gimmicks, telling their buyers that water structuring is real.

Water structuring is very real!

— we will get to this in the next episode…

but do you have to spent 5000€ on a device to do it?

No.

But also, seeing Water merely as a resource, a necessity, is also the wrong way.

One should question all

  • cold pragmatism
  • pseudoscience
  • and marketing gimmicks.

Just to get to the sweet spot.

We spoke about this in the last episode: do not think that drinking so called “safe” water out of the tap is enough.

I know we can do better. It is important to invest in good quality drinking water.

All civilizations have gathered & formed around big, clean wellsprings around the world. Because clean drinking water is the basis for a prosperous life. — No questions asked.

This is the first step: To see water quality as priority. Then, the next step, is to recognize the healing ability of water.

We will dive into this in todays episode.

I started my design-theoretical study with the help of a Google Doc survey on drinking water. The intention behind it: Give me insight into the attitude of people towards drinking water.

  • How much value do people place on their drinking water?
  • Do they even pay attention to what they take in?

The survey was sent to the following people:

  • students of the Industrial Design course at the HTW (all semesters)
  • professors and lecturers of the Industrial Design course at the HTW
  • students of the communication design class 2018/19 at the HTW
  • my private environment
  • my social media contacts (worldwide)

A specific question I asked about healing water (Tarkan Turan: Drinking Water Survey 2021) gives an idea of the opinions on the topic.

The exact question was:

Do you believe in the effectiveness of the so-called „healing water“?

76.9% No / 23.1& Yes

When asked whether healing water works, the majority of the answers were rather skeptical about the scientific proof of the effect.

To make it clear how different the answers were, I‘ll cite the examples here for the next question asked, which was:

”If Yes/No, Why?”

What Makes Healing Water, “Healing Water”?

I am a bit funny here padding on my own shoulder.

But this whole survey was hilarious. Seeing so many sceptics, being confronted with a trigger word.

In fact, "Natural Healing Water (Heilwasser)" is a legally defined term in Germany.

It must originate from underground, original, and pure water sources that are protected from contamination and officially recognized as healing springs.

The term "healing spring" is also legally defined. Substances may neither be added to nor removed from natural healing water. Additionally, in Germany, it must be scientifically proven that the water has a preventative, soothing, or healing effect before it can be called healing water.

This is because healing waters in Germany must be officially approved as pharmaceuticals by law.

Thus, by law, medicinal water is not considered a food product but a pharmaceutical/ a medicine.

The various types of healing water are supposed to work by stimulating the functioning of the metabolism and organs such as the

  • stomach,
  • intestines,
  • heart,
  • circulatory system
  • and kidneys.

”One kilogram or one liter of water must contain at least one gram of dissolved minerals or trace elements. Precise information on the ingredients and their mode of action must be shown on the bottle label.

Guideline values for the ingredients in medicinal water: Magnesium (Mg2+) > 100 mg/l Calcium (Ca2+) > 250 mg/l Fluoride (F−) > 1 mg/l Sulfate (SO42−) > 1200 mg/l Hydrogen carbonate (HCO3−) > 1300 mg/l Carbon dioxide (CO2) 1000 mg/l (CO2 in the source)” (Healing Water 2021)

I kind of walked most of the sceptics into a trap here.

And it showed pretty well how we humans react to certain esoteric trigger words like “healing”.

Studies On the Medicinal Effects Of “Healing Water”

The study “Drinking mineral waters: biochemical effects and health implications – the state-of-the-art” discusses various therapeutic effects and health implications of drinking mineral waters.

Here's a summary of what they found:

Salt-rich mineral waters counteract blood pressure drops from low-salt diets. Meanwhile, bicarbonate-rich waters stabilize calcium levels, useful when you cut salt.

Certain mineral waters cut cholesterol. They speed up lipid processing and kick out bile acids faster.

Spring waters ease chronic respiratory inflammation and help the biliary system recover. They also sort out digestive tract issues.

More magnesium in water links to lower heart disease death risk. High-mineral waters can lower key heart disease risks.

Drinking high-calcium mineral waters fights bone loss and prevents kidney stones.

And in general…

Drinking mineral water supports body functions and treats liver, intestine, and digestive disorders.

Drinking mineral water rebalances your body and rejuvenates it, countering modern stress.

And also Interesting to note, here in São Miguel where I live, visitors are attracted to bathe and drink from our plentiful pure spring waters. So it does also support health care tourism.

Pure waters attract. You know what I mean?

The Ancient Intelligence Of Water

In ancient times, the people knew about the healing abilities of water. They honored water by creating whole temples dedicated to the divinity of it.

On average, it's estimated that the body replaces all of its water molecules approximately every two to three weeks.

Imagine, you are literally a flow of water yourself. You could maybe go & say your body is a water temple,

flowing in sophisticated ways,

leading with organic intelligence,

providing soul to matter.

And if water has a soul & if it can store information, will be the topic of the next episode.

Conclusion

So, can water truly heal?

We learned that in Germany, "Natural Healing Water" is not just a catchphrase; it's a legally protected term, requiring stringent criteria for its application.

And there are other amazing studies showing how mysterious water really is.

Reading these, you will be able to define what characteristics water has - but perhaps sometimes not get an explanation as to why it is so. Some experiments are labeled as “pseudo scientific”.

is this all really nonsense, or is their rationale at the quantum level?

We will go deeper in the next episode.

Stay tuned!

Kiss Kiss, Tarkan
